Oprah Wows Women Business Owners
The Women's Business Development Center arranged for Oprah Winfrey (arguably the most successful woman entrepreneur in the world) to deliver the keynote address at its 20th anniversary Entrepreneurial Woman's Conference in September 2006. With just two months advance notice, our small public relations agency swiftly and creatively disseminated the news, and managed the “media frenzy” surrounding her keynote. The media coverage ultimately generated more than a half million media impressions.
More Than Media Relations
A Chicago personal injury law firm that represents the catastrophically injured hired us to create a higher profile that would lead to more referrals. Today, five years later, we handle all of their communications needs, including media outreach, news conferences, website content, social media site maintenance, advertising, community relations and their electronic newsletter. At our direction, we helped them become one of the first law firms to post videotaped testimonials on their website.
The Law Serves You
As part of a media outreach campaign for our long-time client, the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), we initiated a series of monthly consumer education columns called “The Law Serves You.” Four separate columns were distributed monthly to more than 300 Illinois daily and weekly newspapers, with each column including the ISBA's on-line lawyer referral service website. In 2010 alone, the columns generated more than 300 newsclips and thousands of media impressions.
The Law Serves You Morphs into IllinoisLawNow
Wanting to reach a larger audience, and recognizing that the media today have limited space for longer stories, we retired The Law Serves You columns in the fall of 2010 and launched a monthly series of short filler items called IllinoisLawNow. Using a question-answer format, the fillers strive to educate the public about everyday issues involving the law, and still direct readers to the ISBA’s online lawyer referral service. Twelve fillers are distributed each month to all Illinois dailies and weeklies, and the media response has been exceptional.
